Flex Builder cannot locate the required debug version of the Flash Player problem, Simple Two Step Solution

Hi, This problem is what regularly me and many Flex guys faces,

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9d.ocx

Flex Builder cannot locate the required debug version of the
Flash Player. You may need to install the debug version of Flash Player 9.0
or reinstall Flex Builder. Do you want to try to debug with the
current version?

Well my personal experience is, After installing the latest flash player version too the issue remains unresolved and i keep getting the same error. lastly I decided to reinstall flex, But amzingly after reinstallling Flex Builder I was facing the same problem and really it was very frustrating,

After spending some time Well its programmers mind afterall may not be great one, I thought before installing new version lets reinstall the First one and thats how i got the solution,

Simple Two steps Solution

1. Reinstall the flash player with flashplayer Uninstaller.

2. Install the Flash plyer.

Wait…….. I know Ur Question would be where to get uninstaller and Latest player version :) then click the following link

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Follow the steps mentioned above and :) Here you are ready to Rock Again with debugging facility :)

Best Luck :)

Thanks and regards

    Hi,

This solution was working for many of us.. Could you please Retry it there may be something missing..

And One more thing with New Flash player 10 , The Error window for debugger failure gives you link

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html on this page install the following debugger and i guess this time it will work for you.

Download the Windows Flash Player 10 Plugin content debugger (for Netscape-compatible browsers) (EXE, 1.97 MB)

If you found anything interesting regarding this issue, please post here so that for many of us facing same problem, we could have a solution for it.

    Cheers

…Uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t work for me either. Flex 3 prompts me with a directory path to look for the a debugger:

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS4\Players

I’ve not yet figured out how to change the directory path, but I have gone to the Adobe Flash Player Support Center and downloaded the stand alone Flash debugger.

I renamed “flashplayer_10_sa_debug.exe” to “FlashPlayer.exe” and placed it in the directory above, overwriting the existing “FlashPlay.exe”.

Flex debug function now works without error.

Yesss, Adobe people seems to have put an exact solution to debugger problem here http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html on this page install the following debugger
Download the Windows Flash Player 10 Plugin content debugger (for Netscape-compatible browsers) (EXE, 1.97 MB)

Unlike Previously we had to Uninstall the Player first and then Again install it with newer version. so i mean its really great that support center link is working great.

    Thanks to Adobe Guys

For netscape browsers, I had to go to the folder where the flash 10 ocx file was and rename the folder. simply uninstalling it did not work. then when i reinstalled the version 9 debugger, it worked. hope this helps someone.

    Hi Grace,
Thanks for Visiting to the Blog, and Sure your comment will definatly help some body.
In Pune Flex user Groups meet with an Adobe Evangelist Serge Jasper last month at Pune,India. I had raised the question about Errors behaviour in Flex and What is the possible ways by which they are going to solve it in Flex 4(Flash builder) for Developers. But round and round the answere was not clear. I hope They will solve such amazing erors in Flex 4 so that Developers will less suffer in Frameworks issue.

None of the above worked for me. I have Flex configured so that I debug just with the flash player, not inside a browser. The message I was getting (I run Vista ::cough cough::) was that it couldn’t find the flash player debug version here:

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS4\Players\

However, when I installed the Flash Debug player it seemed to be going here:

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS4\Players\Debug

So I copied the player.exe from the Debug folder into the Players folder. Flex now debugs correctly.

I imagine this now means that I’m running the debug version all the time — for any flash content I may come across on the web. I don’t know what the implications of this are. Does anyone?

I poked around to try to simply reset the path in Flex Builder to point to the Debug folder (this would have meant I wouldn’t have to copy the debug player into the players folder) but couldn’t find a way to do that.
